Yay, it’s April! I’ve been looking forward to April because this is the month in the love project where I (we!) capture love on film. I’m not a very good photographer, but it’s okay. My camera is almost magic enough to make up for my lack of skills, and I love taking pictures.
[begin unwieldy-but-color-coded-for-your-convenience digression now]
I recently read in an article by Danielle LaPorte (who, I think, was quoting someone else, but I’m deciding – just now, as I type – that proper citation isn’t as critical in a digression, and that good faith efforts are good enough, unless you, in fact, are Danielle LaPorte, and then please feel free to set the record straight with a proper citation, because of all the people who could chastise me, you’d be one of the most awesome) that you should think of your strengths as those things that make you feel alive and expansive and energized, not necessarily the things you do well.
First of all, isn’t that a completely, totally awesome way to think of your strengths? And second of all… damn. I may not be a master of photography, but I can wield a colorful bloggy tangent like nobody’s business.
[end digression]
In April, I plan never to leave home without my camera. I won’t even leave the room without it, or get out of bed. I’m going to have it with me constantly. I’m going to drive people crazy, looking for love everywhere. As befits a love warrior, I’m adopting a scorched earth policy on this. If it’s love (and mostly G-rated), I will capture it, no matter how small or camouflaged. (I’ll put captions on the pictures if necessary, telling you when you need to squint and maybe tilt your head just so to see it.)
I set up a Love Project Scenes page, so you can see what I’m doing and (I hope) share some pictures of your own. I think this is going to be fun. I hope you’ll do it with me. Send pictures to me at zebrasoundsj [at] gmail [dot] com. (And if you don’t want me to share them on Zebra Sounds, just tell me. I’d still love to see what you find.)
*grabs camera and skips off*

Awesome leaf! Perfect that you found it!
I found the picture, not the leaf. You can see the original post on KOM at the URL I have captioned.
Ha. I apologize I didn’t see the caption. I had thought you found it. It is an awesome leaf.
Imagining you out and about with your camera is exciting, reminding me of the letters in nature that you shared. The leaf is beautiful. I have no doubts that you and your magical camera will be presenting some extraordinary and loving visual marvels. I seriously can not wait! Happy April j!
Hopefully, you’ll play too, Joanne. (Parenthetical, subliminal message: Send j pictures.)
Today, at breakfast, the B&B hostess (her name is Jennifer and she has an absolutely beautiful 7-month-old baby boy) served raisin toast in the shape of a heart. Luckily, I was armed. I whipped out my camera and shot it. *blows smoke from camera’s lens.*
Going to do a little work and a little writing this morning and then I’m off to capture the day.
skipping to my day… for some strange reason my camera has been living on the kitchen counter the last 2 days… seems it doesn’t want to go back in it’s bag.. and now I see why…. skipping out the door too.
show you what I found later :~)
Yay! I can’t wait to see what you find. (Puppy love?)
j, as always, you are extraordinary!
I can’t wait to see what pictures you come up with, frankly, I’m
not sure what to expect, from pictures of love. I promise to pay
attention, take notes, and practice faithfully with my own camera.
*waves*
I’m not sure what to expect either. The heart-shaped raisin toast this morning was a surprise! I’ve already decided that I’m going to interpret love broadly. For instance, I would totally take a picture of you waving if I could. ;)
I love your enthusiasm! You are a delight :). This Friday, my daughter and son-in-law will see each other for the first time after a two month separation because of her being in boot camp. They haven’t been able to talk on the phone, email, nothing but letters through mail that feels slower than snails. I can’t wait to capture their love on camera as they see each other and embrace. I’ll send you a copy :D. I’m so excited!
Thank you! GINORMOUS smile! But probably not as big as theirs will be. I will carry the thought of their reunion around with me today. (I’m excited too!)
I can never seem to find my camera, but my phone has one. So, I’m in!
Excellent! These days, phones take pictures that are indistinguishable from the ones that cameras take. (Thank you for playing with me!)
I’m in love with the rainbow digression. And, for you, I’ll carry a camera, even when I’m not hiking.
Why, thank you. We all have our superpowers. Rainbow digressions, baby. They’re mine. (I will hold you to your picture-taking promises.)
LIKE (I am “liking” ALL comments on here!)
They caused me to wave and have a GINORMOUS smile and get very excited for the reunion!!! At the moment my feet can’t skip, but my heart is . . . in JOY!
Love rocks, yes?
Wonderful! This will be so cool.
I emailed you a photo. I’ll be on the lookout for new opportunities…
Picture received! If all goes well, I’ll update the scenes page today – I caught some good love already. Funny what pops up out of nowhere.
You make me wish (even more so) to have my own camera already! I’ll be doing this all year round anyway, but especially because of the lack of a camera right now.
Your color-coded paragraph made me laugh aloud (well not what you’ve said in it, but the general idea of color coding and fun explanations before/after it) and it made me realize I’d actually need something similar in real life when I have trouble stringing too many coherent thoughts together ;)
Actually, hopefully what was in the digression made you laugh too. And yes, wouldn’t that be cool. If we could speak in colorful voices?
