I added a new page, j writes, to the blog, where you can read some of my published (and maybe ultimately some of my unpublished) work. I’ve been intending to do it for a long time. And by “intending to do it” I mean “putting it off and finding a million other very important things to do instead.” And of course what I mean by that is that I’ve been too nervous and self-conscious and certain that my list of works isn’t big or impressive enough to show you.
But then isca, the UK-based media company I wrote for during the first half of this year, made the difficult decision to close their doors for reasons that are tragic and maddening and have nothing to do with me. When they went away, they went away completely, taking all the content off their site, and I realized if I wanted the pieces I wrote for them to be accessible I’d have to republish them myself. And while I was at it, I might as well do that j writes page I’ve been meaning to do since I started the blog…
Ack! I’m justifying my j writes page. God forbid I act like a writer who has written some stuff that people might want to read.
Okay, stopping. The page is there. I’m nervous and also proud of myself for doing it, and (not so secretly) hoping you’ll check it out.

Wild
Stop putting yourself down, dammit!
Ooooo. I don’t wanna clog it all up (with my comments), but I will come back to read more. I only read two. I’m savoring! (and tweeting!)
Ralph, Yes sir! (Thank you.)
Terre, Thank you for reading any! Hug!
*hussles off to Twitter to tell people if they don’t read this stuff, they’ll get a pox*
Levi, Ha! That made me grin. <3
Ahhh, it’s good to be back to the ZS herd! I can’t wait to check ” j writes”! I’m sure it’s just brimming with great writing and inspiration :)
I am so looking forward to going out to my patio with a nice glass of wine and reading your stories. It will be almost as good as having you here!! (yes, I said almost because I love to hear your stories in person, they seem to be a bit more sparkly but I will use my imagination to visualize you sharing your words)
*pssst – I hate to break it to you, but yes, my dear, you are a writer. Be prepared as your readers spread the word*
Eman, You’re back! Yay! How was it? Were you able to borrow a camera?
Christie, In person is good. Let’s do that. (Reading me with wine is good too, though. In a pinch.)
Unfortunately, I was unable to borrow a camera :( But there is a recorded video of me eating a tequila worm, which is not going on any blog anytime soon. But I had a blast, caught up with many friends. It’s good to be back!
Well, it certainly does sound like you had fun. I GUESS I won’t demand the video proof. So happy you had a good time, and happy you’re back.
So far I’ve only reread “Zebra Sounds” ~ I will savor the anticipation of reading one story at a time. I am sorry to hear isca closed down, but I am thrilled that you have added your ‘j writes’ page. I didn’t think it was possible to improve ZS, but you have. *Happy, Happy Dance* Much Love. *Big Proud of You Hugs*
Thank you, Dani. There are actually a few kick-j-in-the-pants bright sides to isca shutting down, but yes, I’m sorry too. On the other hand, I’d rather than join you in a happy dance than dwell on that!
I’m so glad you made this page so I could gobble it all up. some of these I’m reading for the 3rd time.
Migroddy, Really? That makes me happier than you can know. Thank you, darlin’!
Can’t wait J. This weekend is going to be perfect for reading. You know, hurricane Earl and all. I love to read on rainy days and reading you on rainy days will be the best!
<3 Joanne
Sweetness! Thank you Joanne! I love to be read on rainy days. (And sunny days, and overcast days, and windy days, and days that are too hot, and too cold, and to smoky, and too busy, and too quiet, and the ones that smell like chocolate chip cookies. Oh, and also I love to be read at night. All nights.)
Thrilled you’ve added this new page! *stepping over to (re)read* :)
What was that J? You like to read? ;) P.S. Can I borrow some of you attention span, the distration factor here is pretty high. Hmmm, maybe if I go up on the roof, no one would ever look for me there.
Thank you, Estrella!
Joanne, There’s a reason my twitter name is jdistraction. Definitely can’t help you with that. But you get big points just for wanting to read me!
