Welcome to Friday! I have stuff for you!
- I love Save the Words, a site sponsored by the makers of the Oxford dictionary. It is a tragic fact that awesome English words die every day from neglect and disuse. You can save them. Adopt a word now. (I adopted blateration. WordPress says it’s not a word, but I know it is. I’ll be using it as often as possible.)
- And speaking of words, this short film is all about the multiple meanings of words. It’s so cool. Watch.
- This may be the most fun you can have blogging. Or visiting a blog. I’m a little in love with Katie. (Watch this and you will be too.)
- When I just need to laugh, there is nothing better than the irreverent lunacy of Flight of the Conchords. Business Time is one of my favorites.
- Check out this picture taken in the courtyard of the National Portrait Gallery in DC. It was posted on Twitter by Dan Davenport, and I just loved the sunlight, the play of shadows on the wall, the people all doing what people do… a moment perfectly captured.

Wild
Ha! I love blateration, I could use that word for many people that I know. But I will go adopt my own word.
The film “Words” was very good. Nice subtle transitions between the pictures.
Ah yes! Katie’s blog is cool. I love the creativity of her setups. I intend to bookmark the site to explore later. Flight of the Conchords was very funny too! Dan’s picture was very cool. I saw it the day he posted it but didn’t think to save it.
Thank you! Another excellent Friday fun five. Just what I needed at 2am as I struggle to stay awake… :)
When you adopt a word, it makes a big congratulatory deal out of it, and then offers you the chance to buy a t-shirt emblazoned with your word. So cute!
Love Dan, and love “Business Time.” In fact, I think Dan’s avatar kind of looks like one of the Flight of the Concords guys, so we should have him do a remake of the video. That song makes me laugh out loud so hard every time I watch it. His pic was just beautiful…
*mind drifts off imagining Dan making a “sexy little dance out of it.” ;-)
hope im not posting twice, liked katie’s thingy, fun stuff
Me too. I’d have danced with her!
with the hula hoops?
Okay!
Blateration – blatter; blabber; chatter; babble. Talk that is rapid and does not make much sense. Running off at the mouth n
I want the verb form to blaterate. I’m afraid to check because I will be disappointed if it’s not.
1. I love Save the Words! My word: sarcinarious ~ serving to carry a burden or load. I can do SO much with this one. ;-)
2. Going to have to watch this again when I don’t have a headache becaused it all went over my head.
3. The cats in the hats had me rolling on the floor laughing. Loved, Loved, LOVED Katie’s project of dancing in the park. If I come to San Francisco, can we put flowers in our hair and dance with strangers in the park?
4. Very funny!
5. NICE!
FABulous list, j. Much fun to he had. Thank you for sharing! Have a great weekend, sweetheart. Much Love. *Big Squishy Hugs*
Sarcinarious is kind of fun to say. More fun to say than be, I think. Are donkeys sarcinarious?
Yes, definitely watch the word video again. It’s very cool. It starts with different interpretations of the word blow, and then I forget what it does next. Run, maybe. Anyway, I’m sure it’s the headache that got in your way.
Absolutely we will dance like flower children in San Francisco!
I saw the WORD video a few days ago and fell in love with it, too.
My new favorite j-combo of words: “irreverent lunacy”. :)
Happy Friday! Yay!
Did you tweet it? I may have gotten it from you! Sometimes I can’t remember by Friday where I found things. (I only remembered Dan took the photo because he has such a legal nature. Was afraid of being sued if I didn’t properly credit.)
I am, in fact, full of irreverent lunacy, which, if I am not careful, leads to much blateration.
<3 Having blog comment – writers-block. But just wanted to say – love all as usual sparkly J! xo
Awww! That’s a perfect comment. Thank you for taking the time to say something. <3
