5 (really) Cool Friday Things

Yay! It’s Friday, and whatever path you took to get here, be it sparkly awesome or fraught with peril, you made it, and I have some really cool stuff for you!

  1. Look at this paper cut-out art. It will take your breath away!
  2. I found the Unique Scoop blog because someone tweeted this post: 33 Wonderful Pictures of Twitter Addiction. It is, in fact, wonderful, but check out the rest of the blog too. It’s really fun.
  3. Love, love, love the New York photography blog. Love the pictures, and the commentary. I seriously spent so much more time on this blog than I had to spend. I will be adding it to my links. (If you live in New York, I imagine it’s even more wonderful.)
  4. Colorful duct tape art! Need I say more? (Another awesome blog.)
  5. And finally, a parting thought from one of my favorite blogs of all, kind over matter.

  1. I am so very afraid to click on the NYC link…I can’t handle that kind of procrastination trap right now!

  2. How did you get my picture for the NY street performer?

  3. Is it weird how much I look forward to your Friday posts? Well I do. Thanks for the Friday smiles! The paper art is amazing, the duct tape – amazing-er? and the Twitter pics are FTW. I am now going to try to knit that silly bird! :o) Thanks J!! xo

  4. 1) No Way! That is crazy. I bet if you were to research who made those they would turn out to be mathematical superbrains from MIT.
    2) I hope they never find a cure for Twitter Addiction — #justsayin #thehashtagsareawesome #jlove
    3) I hope to go to NY someday but the only people I know there are from twitter. #onceagaintwitterplaysapart #ihopesomeonehasanicesofa
    4) THAT needs to be your next project! Maybe more just words in duct tape because your words are as beautiful as those pictures.
    5) … I’m counting on it.

    Thank you j.

  5. You never disappoint J.
So many creators out there, but kind over matter will stick in my head all day.

I’m failing at getting my work done today not because I’m reading your post (cause that’s a must) but because I’ve checked into the reality of WC fever.

Plan to have this illness for sometime… Fever Involving Frivolous Aliments ha

    • One thing I love about Twitter is being connected to people who are into things like the World Cup. Hard not to care when everyone cares. I just need more hours in my day.

  6. Loved the paper cut out art. Especially the bust of the woman and the skeleton who had fallen out of a tree.
    Thanks for sharing!
    :0)

  7. Hey, you chose the paper cut out art! yay! Since seeing the paper exhibit at the Mad Museum in NYC, I cannot get enough of it.

I love, love, love the NY photo blog. Very cool.

AND, thank you so much for posting the kind over matter art. I favorited that one earlier this week so I could view it later, but forgot. Of course, I love it! The saying and the art.

Another group of great choices, j. <3

    • I swear I could just scroll through you feed and get all my Friday picks and more. (Hint to all my twitter friends. Follow @hippiechick68.)

Although I try to get over to kind over matter a couple of times a week, I missed this one until you tweeted it. I’m sure you make “an appearance” on Fridays more often than not. :-)

  8. My path here was fraught with peril, but now it’s sparkly awesome–because it’s Friday, and it’s fun stuff at ZS! Number 5 is my favorite for sure. I love this parting thought. No doubt there are so many life stories behind these words.

As always, thanks for a great start to the weekend, J!

    • I like it too. A freeing thought. And one Thomas Edison (as just one example) very much espoused.

You have an awesome weekend too!

  9. “we are all of us failures, at least, the best of us are” , was that from Peter Pan? was it just a note he wrote down to remind us that we are always human? did he lose a game of darts with H.G. Wells? or was it something he jotted on a piece of paper because he was having a bad hair day? Always curious about the context!

By the by, its not exactly the kind of thing you hear from the sideline of a football game, “give me an F… give me an A… give me an I… give me an L…” well, you get the idea.

  10. I was going to say it’s probably too long a word to do as a cheer, but then I realized it has the same number of letters as Trojans. Oooo, unsettling. ;-)

  11. here —> apply your sarcastic, lighthearted, funny, all in good fun, simple twist to a comment, FONT to the following…

I like the use of Thomas Edison in your reply to Eman. Hey, do you think Edison was espousing the sentiments of that quote when he was trying to perfect the current that ran thru the electric chair he was developing? Or do you think it was when he was bad-mouthing his buddy and rival, Westinghouse, all while trying to keep the profits from his own intellectual property rights flowing in?

Oh heck, who cares. I am just glad you brought up Edison. I love that guy!

    —> ok, discontinue FONT.

Have a fun, energizing and connective weekend J!!!

  12. Tall Pajama Man

ok, in the light of the fantastically fun Friday facts, I just have to say, I have been missing ZS. Drat work and all the other stuff that takes my time, where I don’t get the opportunity to see New York in a new way, or ponder the Twitter addiction that I have so far, successfully avoided… and to watch the banter of quick witted Bobby and the always popular, never outdone, superhero-J….

Ah, ZS… let me just sit and rest within its walls for a bit and soak in all that it is…

    Thank you J :-)

  13. Hey Judy, I need to catch up with you.

Loved the Photography blog. I am trying to talk myself into a new camera. I really want to learn how to take night shots. But I need a new computer too.

I love duct tape, but I would never have considered using it to create art. Incredible!

But #5 really resonated with me. Maybe because it was originally posted on my birthday. Message received.

    Thank you

    • Think it resonated for a lot of people. I hate that, when you want one thing, but then to get it will require you upgrade something else. Technology. Gaw! (But you should get a camera. I love your photographs.)

  14. Sometimes I just want to kiss you (in a purely platonic way, of course).

You’re like the Cool-O-Meter. What’s hot? Ask Judy.

  15. Very nice! I like that “kind over matter” blog, a great find to follow!

    Thanks!

  16. Love it!

    1. Totally cool and amazing art! I’m stunned at Bert Simons’ paper bust.

    2. Too cute!

    3. Very cool!

    4. Ha!

    5. That makes me feel better. I remember in one of her first tweets to me, Becky said “Cool girls are kind” ~ kindness rocks! “kind over matter” rocks!

    You rock, J! *hugs*

Let's talk.
