Gotta love Saturdays. Here are three things that make me smile…
The first is really two in one. Yesterday, I was visiting one of my favorite sites, light night rains, a super amazing blog by super amazing artist Corey Godbey. His current post is all about another blog called Chicken Nugget Lemon Tooty. Here’s what he wrote about it:
Chicken Nugget Lemon Tooty is just one of those blogs — it’s where genuine creativity and pure fun meet. It’s three kids who draw all the time and their Dad posts their work. How great is that!
So of course I had to check it out, and I can’t tell you how much I LOVE the blog. It makes me want to write something daring, hug and encourage my kids, meet the CNLT family, create something pretty! Check out both blogs. I promise you’ll be smiling (and inspired).
The second is a song. It’s by Dan Baird of the Georgia Satellites. It’s called I Love You Period. It’s about a boy who writes a love note to his English teacher. It has everything – a catchy riff, clever lyrics, love and grammar. If I had an iPod, it would be on the “Songs That Make J Happy” playlist.
The third is goofy, but what can I say? On July 29, 2009, forty-one people gathered at a Bensons for Beds furniture warehouse in Tewkesbury, UK to break the mattress dominoes record. I didn’t even know there WAS a mattress dominoes record! But the video is really cute.

And now for something completely different… I read and wrote a review of Get Known Before The Book Deal, by Christina Katz. (Check out my review on my Book Recommendations page.) Christina’s book is an excellent, step-by-step guide to building your platform. Writers – and really anyone trying to navigate the tricky waters of self-promotion – will benefit from the thought-provoking exercises and sage advice.

Wild
j,
That was just plain fun! Thanks for a great start to loving my Saturday!
Hi Judy,
I loved the *last night rains* site so much that I had to leave here, go send it to Lauren via email and come back to comment.
Cory’s drawing of the monster is just SO GLEEFUL….hee hee hee.
I went to Horrible Yellow Eyes after I found that site in your sidebar too.
You gave me a GREAT thing to make me smile.
BIG GIANT HUGS for trolling the internet for me so I don’t have to…..
:0)
cmw, This could be National Love-Your-Saturday Day – see Karen’s wonderful post at Miscellaneous Yammering. It will make you smile, too!
Karen, Thanks right back at you! Loved your post today (and I shared PLENTY of information with you and your gazillion readers.)
Dave Barry has some very amusing things to say about the I Love You Period song in his “Book of Bad Songs.” I wish I had a link.
Chris (PurposePowerCoaching) Uh-oh! I’m guessing it didn’t make Dave Barry smile. Maybe you have to be generally amused by (while simultaneously paranoid of making and prone to) grammar mistakes! My delight in the song is an indication of my neurosis. =-)
(Nice to “see” you here again.)
Wow, that dominoes video was pretty cool. Made me want to participate in a human-dominoe thingamajiggy!
That’s so funny Judy!!! I JUST pointed folks back to your site for the light night rains.
I think this should be National Mutual Admiration Society Day as well as National Love Your Saturday Day.
P.S. I listened to I love you period three times while I made my lunch and danced around in my kitchen. Fun fun fun.
Hugs!
:0)
I’m not sure what made me laugh more – the guy one the mattress being put in the back of the truck or the I Love You – Period song. Good stuff on a Saturday.
Frank, Me Too!
Karen and Lake, It’s I Love This Song Even If Dave Barry Thinks It’s Dumb Day!
Thanks Judy. Loved the Domino Matresses.
You’re welcome, Renee! (Thanks for commenting!)
I found a sparkly dragon on the Chicken Nugget Lemon Tooty blog. Isaac made the dragon by cutting photos of jewelry and gems out of magazines, assembling, and gluing them down. Brilliant!
Thanks for sharing the stuff that makes you smile. Made me smile too.
Terre, I know! I love the sparkly dragon. I think I’m going to try something like that. Isn’t CNLT wonderful? I could just hang out there all day. I wonder if anyone will miss me…
I would. :0)
P.S. I got spoiled when you posted the last couple of Sundays.
*sigh*
Awww! Thanks, Karen. I am feeling the love!
