The Beckoning Of Lovely

This video makes me smile.

It also inspired me. I don’t normally post on Sundays, but I’ll be posting tomorrow to share my amazing, wonderful, big fat fun idea. In the meantime, watch The Beckoning of Lovely. You won’t be sorry.

And if you’d like to watch Amy’s first video, the one that started it all, here’s the link.

Happy Saturday!

————————————————————————-

And now for something completely different… It’s August 1st! Time to start our participation in the 3/50 project. Have you picked the 3 brick and mortar independent businesses in your community that you’d hate to see disappear? I have. I’ve got an ale house, a coffee shop and an indie bookstore (three bookstores actually, and none of them are technically in MY community because, as we’ve established, my community has no bookstores. All the same… how can I not have a bookstore – or three – on the list?)

Let’s do this thing!

  1. I’m sending this on to Lauren. Lauren who is a poet, an artist, a storyteller, an accomplished sidewalk chalk artist and maker of wondrous samarai hats for ugly dolls.
She will so rock this movie by adding her project. (whatever it is)
    Thanks for the link Judy!
    It made my morning.
…now on to oatmeal. (and just to keep in the spirit of the video, I’ll draw a smiley face in it before I eat it)

    Karen :0)

  2. that was lovely!

as for 3/50 i’ll find them today and let you know.

  3. Karen, “wondrous samarai hats for ugly dolls”? Holy cow, pictures, please! What I couldn’t do with a wondrous samarai hat!

Peggi, Yes, let me know! I’m so jazzed about 3/50. On Twitter an Indie musician started following me and one of his links was to a website that was all about promoting indie bands. Made me think that if you buy local, eat local, listen to indie music, watch indie films, you could have a whole indie life out of the mainstream.

But I’d have missed Harry Potter – the books and the movies. And, as Karen From Mentor would no doubt agree, when you need Tom Hanks, you need Tom Hanks.

  4. I was wondering if there was still time to send in something lovely.

    Thank you for sharing.

  5. Yes, Judy,
you gotta gotta gotta have Tom Hanks, and I don’t know if you know it but he’s got local ties to Cleveland, so I could still claim him as something to love that’s within 50 miles…..

I LOVE local bands. I go all the time and see the bad, the good and the mediocre. And sometimes I see the AWESOME….you get what you get and it’s always an adventure…
    Especially on open mic night.

I’m going to leave the Tom Hanks post up til Sunday because I’m still getting plans for retribution for the prank that my friend pulled on me. It’s fun having bloodthirsty mystery writers as friends and readers. They kill with their keyboard on a daily basis, and when a wrong is done? They have no qualms about hatching EVIL plots to bring the evil doer to justice…It’s very heart warming… :0)

    scary. But heartwarming.

  6. Judy,

Thank you so much for putting up this video. It inspires me to write a post about it and share with my readers as well.

    Love your blog!
    Judith

  7. Terre, I know! Come back tomorrow. I have a plan.

Karen, Haven’t checked out the local music scene here. But maybe now I will. The coffee shop on my 3/50 list does, in fact, host bands on Friday nights!

Judith, Your blog is a perfect place for this idea – and you are a perfect person to write about it! And since your name isn’t linking to your blog, I will post the link here, because I think it’s wonderful. http://www.judithrich.com/blog/

  8. Craig Wieczorkiewicz

    Judy,
I see you have beer, coffee and books covered under your 3/50 project plan. Doing your part to save all the basics, right? :)

I’m looking forward to finding out what your “amazing, wonderful, big fat fun idea” is.

  9. I second that! It’s after midnight and yawning my head off so will have to save your video and 3/50 project for later. But, like Craig said, can’t wait to hear about your “amazing, wonderful, big fat fun idea”!

  10. Craig, There is a method to my madness. (Leave it to a writer to figure that out!)

Milli, Definitely check out the 3/50 project when it’s not past your bedtime. It’s SO cool. Plus, I’d love to hear which three businesses you’d pick!

  11. Ohmigosh. I’m still sobbing and blowing my nose. How completely and utterly wonderful! That is one of THE best things I’ve ever seen.

I live six hours drive from Chicago. I’m sad I missed the peace and make things party. But so uplifted to be on the receiving end of so many strangers doing spontaneous things together in a spirit of love.

  12. Milli, I got all teary eyed too! This one really got inside me. So happy you felt it too!

  13. i watched both videos. wow! i’m sitting here with tears in my eyes and the biggest o’ goofy grin on my face. i want the whole world to see these videos (although, i’m kinda glad no one can see me right now.)

thank you so much for sharing!
