I had time to rant. Which I don’t. Still, until I do, here’s what’s on my mind (and it’s serious). I posted the following on my facebook account this morning…
I can understand why some of my conservative friends feel nervous about Obama’s policies. As a democrat, he will, of course, approach things differently than they would. It’s okay that we don’t all agree. But these people at his rallies, shouting “Kill him!” and “Terrorist!” are very scary. I think McCain’s ads and ridiculous accusations (proven wrong or exaggerated by all non-partison news organizations) have appealed to some people’s basest instincts. It is, at best, irresponsible for him to stir up such hatred and potential violence. At worst, it seems criminal.
According to many articles (including the one below), McCain is attempting now, half-heartedly, to stop what he has started, but I fear it isn’t possible anymore. And if, in fact, violence springs from the seeds he’s sewn, he will live with that for the rest of his life.

when i saw the video of mccain and that woman who said “i can’t trust obama…because he’s an arab” and then when mccain told her “no…he’s not, he’s a decent family man”, it turned my blood cold to realise two things: 1) racism runs deep and is clearly perpetuated by ignorance. 2) The poor muslum and arabic citizens in this country (and for the vast majority, everywhere) are treated as if “arabic heritage ” are dirty words. what a horrible thing for the world to have to witness how backward our forward thinking country can be. well, all i can say is not all the citizens of the united states feel that way, but i feel compelled to apologize for those of us in this country who do.
